For applications requiring a higher response frequency (200 kHz) or selectable light sources (650nm/850nm) with integrated 2kΩ pull-up resistors, consider the RK Series Optical Encoder Kit. The RK standard variant features the same C-shape mechanical design with 600 CPR rotary capability and a single 5V supply.
Q: What is the difference between the RK_L and the standard RK optical encoder kit?
A: The RK_L is the wide-voltage variant supporting 2.7V ~ 5.5V supply (vs. 4.5V ~ 5.5V for RK), with a 60 kHz response frequency and 12 LPI options (20, 37, 45, 75, 90, 120, 150, 180, 254, 300, 360, 450 LPI). It uses an 850nm infrared light source only and does not include internal pull-up resistors on the outputs.
Q: What output type does the RK_L optical encoder kit provide?
A: The RK_L optical encoder kit provides TTL-compatible 2-channel quadrature outputs (Aout and Bout). Note that the RK_L does not include internal pull-up resistors — external pull-up resistors may be required depending on your interface circuit design.
Q: What LPI resolution options are available for the RK_L encoder kit?
A: The RK_L offers 12 linear LPI options: 20, 37, 45, 75, 90, 120, 150, 180, 254, 300, 360, and 450 LPI. The 450 LPI option requires special placement of the code-wheel within the 1/3 area of the C port close to the receive chip.
Q: What applications is the RK_L C-shape optical encoder kit suitable for?
A: The RK_L C-shape optical encoder kit is suitable for printers, plotters, servo motors, DC motors, stepper motors, office automation equipment, and industrial automation systems requiring reliable 2-channel incremental position sensing across a wide voltage range.
